Our Story
Too often, travel isn’t designed with people with disabilities in mind.
After seeing how inaccessible and overwhelming travel can be for people with disabilities and their families, we set out to create a service that puts individual needs, comfort, and dignity first.
Helping Hands Holidays was created from a simple belief: everyone deserves the chance to experience a holiday that feels safe, supported, and enjoyable. By listening first and planning around the individual, we help people with disabilities and their families enjoy holidays that are thoughtfully planned, genuinely accessible, and guided by care.
Meet Ali
Ali’s journey into disability support began, ironically, while she was on a holiday in Bali almost ten years ago. She was approached by the father of a young boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder, who noticed her natural compassion and calm, nurturing presence – what many now describe as her instinctive “mum-ness.”
That first client led Ali to discover her true calling in the disability sector. Since then, she has supported people with a wide range of both physical and cognitive disabilities, and found the most rewarding part of her work is helping individuals achieve things they never thought possible — especially experiencing the world.
We are not a travel agency.
We do not receive commissions or incentives from airlines, accommodation providers, tour operators or venues. This means all recommendations are made solely in the best interests of our participants – based on accessibility, safety, preferences and individual needs.

Where Are We?
We’re based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, but our support doesn’t stop there. We’re happy to travel anywhere in Australia to support our participants and begin their holiday journey, wherever that may be.
If you’re located outside of Sydney, we offer video calls and phone meetings to get to know you, understand your needs, and plan a holiday that’s truly tailored to you. No matter where you’re based, we’re here to make your holiday seamless, supported, and stress-free.

Specialist Support Experience
Manual Handling, Hoists
& Transfers
Support with manual handling, hoists and transfers, delivered in line with individual care plans and best-practice safety standards. We prioritise comfort, dignity and risk-aware support to ensure safe movement across a range of environments, including during travel.
Wheelchair Assistance
Supportive assistance with both manual and powered wheelchairs, tailored to individual mobility needs and environments. We prioritise safety, comfort, and independence while navigating daily activities, travel logistics, and unfamiliar settings.
Personal Hygiene & Toileting
Respectful support with personal hygiene and toileting, tailored to individual routines, preferences and care plans. We prioritise dignity, privacy and comfort while supporting participants to maintain wellbeing and independence across while travelling.
Medication Assistance
Support with medication administration and prompting, following individual care plans and safety protocols. We ensure participants take their medication correctly and on time, while maintaining peace of mind during everyday activities and travel.
Catheter Care & Management
Support with catheter care and management in accordance with individual care plans and established hygiene protocols. We provide calm, respectful assistance to support comfort, dignity, and ongoing wellbeing, including during travel and extended holidays.
Behaviour Support
Compassionate support tailored to individual behavioural needs, including strategies aligned with positive behaviour support principles. We focus on promoting safety, wellbeing, and confidence, while encouraging independence and positive experiences.
Travel with NDIS Funding
We assist participants to utilise their NDIS funding to access supported travel experiences. We coordinate your plan to cover accommodation, transport, on-trip support, and our services. We aim to ensure your holiday is fully accessible, safe, and tailored to individual needs and goals. Our approach simplifies the process, providing a stress-free experience from planning to travel.
